Sydney Phillips - Business and Marketing ManagerSydney’s background is in teaching and managing projects for a non-profit that focused on improving health outcomes for children. Part of that work was creating a food system value chain to improve food procurement practices for child care centers while positively impacting the local farm economy as well. Locally, she continues this work as a board member with Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture.
She and her husband, Taylor, moved to Boone in 2019 from Eastern North Carolina and are now empty nesters with their youngest son, Sam, at NC State University, and their oldest son, Wyatt, a UNC Chapel Hill graduate, working in Atlanta. They enjoy being active and explore all that the High Country has to offer.
Sydney will be the primary point of contact for retail and food service customers. Shipley Farms’ hopes to show that our commitment to quality not only includes the attention we give to our beef, but also the attention we give to our customers. Marisa Bumgardner - Assistant Business & Marketing Manager
Marisa, pictured here with her girls, Faith & Roxie, started as an intern at Shipley Farms in 2019. After graduating from Appalachian State University, she started working part time while also serving as an AmeriCorps Vista Member with Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture. Begging summer of 2021, she will split her fulltime duties between SFB & Watauga Butchery.
