Shipley Farms, established in 1872, is a family-owned cattle farm located in Vilas, NC, just ten minutes outside of downtown Boone. We specialize in pasture-raised Hereford and Angus cattle, producing high-quality beef without antibiotics, steroids, or growth stimulants. Our working farm is now open for tours that let you experience real cattle farming up close.

How can I book a farm tour?
Tours must be booked in advance through our website. Choose your date, time, and preferred tour. Space is limited to keep groups small and personal, so early booking is encouraged.
Are the tours family-friendly?
Yes. Both tours are great for families. Kids can safely interact with animals and gain a firsthand view of farm life. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes.
Can I bring my pet on the tour?
Leashed dogs are welcome on both tours if they’re comfortable around cattle and open land. Bring water, a leash, and waste bags.
What should I wear or bring?
Wear closed-toe shoes or boots suitable for uneven terrain. Dress for the weather. In warm months, bring hats, sunscreen, and refillable water bottles. Expect dirt, mud, and real farm conditions.
