A Boone Area Photo Location With Real Character

Shipley Farms, established in 1872, is a family-owned cattle farm, and it looks like it. With more than 115 acres of pasture and woodland in the Blue Ridge Mountains, you can move from wide valley views to quiet, close settings in one session.

Starting at $75 per hour

The price goes up if your shoot needs site prep, props or farmer time. Every shoot is different, so inquire for your price and we will confirm it with you before anything is booked.

How It Works

  1. Inquire. Send us your date and plans, including anything you need from us.
  2. Confirm. A person at Shipley Farms follows up with your price and available times.
  3. Sign. Everyone on site signs the On-Farm Participant Agreement before the session.
  4. Shoot. Come out to 1699 Linville Creek Road in Vilas and make your photos.

Questions

How much does a photo session at Shipley Farms cost?

Sessions start at $75 per hour. The final price depends on what your shoot needs, so send us your date and plans and we will confirm the price with you.

What adds to the price?

Site prep, props or farmer time. If your shoot needs any of those, the price goes up from the $75 per hour starting rate. Tell us your plans when you inquire so we can price it properly.

Who needs to sign the On-Farm Participant Agreement?

Everyone on site for the session signs before it starts: the photographer, any assistants, and the couple, family or clients being photographed. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or legal guardian to sign too.

Can the cattle be in our photos?

Ask us when you inquire. Shipley Farms is a working cattle farm, so the herd moves with the day's work. Any time a farmer spends helping with your shot adds to the price.

Can we hold the wedding itself at Shipley Farms?

Photo sessions are for photography. To ask about a ceremony, reception or other celebration, use the Host an Event form and tell us what you have in mind.
