My boys and I had a great time touring the farm and learning the history of Shipley Farms. Farmer Bob did such a great job explaining the history of the farm and showing us around. Farmer Bob is one of those people that you can talk to for hours and soak up everything he has to share. My 17 year old son talked about our tour for hours and kept saying repeatedly how great of a time he had. We also purchased several ribeyes and filets, and they were phenomenal. We will definitely stop by again the next time we are in the area.Tommy Lowe

So thankful Shipley Farms in in Watauga County. We are very lucky to have them in our county. After more and more supermarket disappointments with our steaks- not being sure what country it's coming from, or what's been done to preserve them in transit; I decided that Shipley Farms will be my go to for our meats. For Thanksgiving I got some aged Ribeyes and Filet Mignons and my fussy husband raved at the freshness and quality, he tasted and commented immediately these are aged. As long as his tastebuds are happy I'm willing to drive the few extra miles and pay the premium to support local small business and US farms . Thank you Shipley Farms.Shanaaz Eisenberg

Loved my last order from Shipley! The steak was amazing, the ground beef made the best burgers ever, and the prime rib was beyond delicious. Mr. Bob Shipley greeted us at the door and for the next 45 minutes we were informed and entertained! We learned how Shipley Farms came to be and learned so much about different cuts of meats! The Huston Ribeye, named after his Uncle Hous , was absolutely amazing!! Anyone reading this should have the same experience! So please go to Shipley Fsrms and ask for Bob Shipley!! we ordered 7 filets and picked them up on the farm. we were fortunate enough to meet gray shipley and get a brief lesson about his farm and how their cows are raised. extremely informative and interesting story behind their farm and family. i have to say those were the best filets we have ever had and highly recommend them to everyone. we are looking forward to picking some up next trip down to boone and will also be ordering some through the mail. we already have some ideas for the holidays as well. they also have really good merchandise which is going to help me spread the word about this wonderful farm. it is truly worth the drive to check them out in person.Eleanor Pettipaw

We’ve been purchasing our beef from Shipley for the past couple of years. It’s consistently amazing! My family loves it so much, it’s our go-to option for celebration meals. While visiting the Boone, NC area we found this wonderful resource and purchased several items from the farm store to take home to Charlotte, NC. EVERYTHING was simply outstanding and we couldn't be more pleased; it is nearly impossible to find food of this quality in this "heavily processed to feed millions" world of food Inc. We have made Shipley Farms our exclusive supplier of beef and pork (and some goodies for our Alaskan Malamute Ranger) via a subscription service with them that delivers to our home.Doug E

I recently had the sublime pleasure of enjoying a couple of steaks we picked up from the farm while in the area (we'd reserved them - THANK YOU SYDNEY!). They were insanely marbled, very tender, and the flavor was extremely complex. WARNING: you will never eat a steak that you won't compare to Shipley's steak.Chris Slay
Both at Over Yonder in Valle Crucis and at Cardinal in Boone we all had the burgers made with delicious, very tasty beef from Shipley Farms, stated on their menus. Great choice definately can taste the difference from other ground beef. Will definitely try other Shipley products.Frank Palmisano
Very surprised at how tough the steaks were, perhaps that is result of grass fed. But disappointed on a taste basis. I’ll buy non grass fed meat in the grocery store that tastes better and is a lot less expensive.Michael Claffey

Thank you for taking the time to write this, and I am sorry these steaks disappointed you. One thing worth correcting: we are not a grass-fed operation. Our cattle eat a primarily grass and forage based diet with a grain supplement developed with the NC State College of Agriculture, and they finish on pasture. Tough steak is not what we want anyone to get from us, so if you are ever willing to give us another go, please get in touch and we will make it right.
We recently ordered half a cow from Shipley Beef and have had the best experience with them. The beef is delicious and excellent quality. It was a joy to make the order and they kept us up-to-date as to when our order would arrive. We are very satisfied and highly recommend Shipley Beef!Steph White

Nestled in a little valley , parallel to a babbling creek and bookended by a stunning mountain. The valley was teaming with rabbits, firefly's and a few deer. No bugs eaten you..
The host set up a great little fire pit.

Amazing campsite! Very private with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. We camped during early winter, so you could just make out a couple houses and a secondary road in the distance. Hosts are extremely accommodating and very friendly. Farm store is a must visit. Watauga County Rec Center is about 15 minutes away and offers a daily “shower pass” for $5.Benjamin W.

Best of private camping
Stunning campsite in such a serene valley. Was quiet and private with some beautiful wildflowers. Basically have the valley to yourself. Easy drive in and out near Boone / blowing rock / linville hikes. Grey was quickly responsive and kind, and helped us to our campsite. Highly recommend for a truly calm and serene camping experience!Alexa R.

Camped out here with my rooftop tent and it was wonderful! Gray brought by the firewood we ordered and welcomed us to the property. Very nice guy and made us feel right at home. The property itself is beautiful with tons of wildflowers and an excellent view of the night sky. It was quiet and private, yet super close to Boone. I’ll definitely stay here again and highly recommend the campsite!Hayden M.

First time using Hip Camp, so I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. However, Gray made things very easy by being quickly responsive and having someone there to greet me when I got on the property. From there everything was easy as all I had to do was park then hike a short distance to the campsite. It was private, quiet and very peaceful!Andrew G.
