Show us the farm through your eyes
If you have been out to the farm, walked the pasture, picked up an order or cooked something worth photographing, we would love to see it. The best pictures of this place are usually not the ones we take ourselves.
What we would love to see
-
The land and the cattle
The herd, the pasture, the ridgeline, the weather doing something dramatic. Any season.
-
Your visit
The farm store, a tour, pickup day, the drive in. People genuinely enjoying themselves is the hardest thing for us to photograph and the best thing to have.
-
What you cooked
The steak on the grill, the roast coming out of the oven, the table before everyone sits down.
-
The everyday
Feeding in the snow, a muddy pair of boots, the sign at the end of the driveway. The ordinary shots age best.
How to send them
Email your photos to beef@shipleyfarmsbeef.com and tell us your name and roughly where and when you took them. That is all we need.
- Send the original from your camera roll rather than a screenshot or a re-shared copy. Originals are sharper and we can actually use them.
- Any orientation is welcome. Wide shots suit the website, upright ones suit social media, so send whatever you have.
- Several at once is fine. There is no limit and no wrong answer.
What you are agreeing to, in plain words
We want to be straight with you about this, because it matters and because most websites bury it.
- By sending us a photo, you are giving Shipley Farms permission to use it in our own marketing: this website, our social media, our emails and our printed material.
- Please only send photos you took yourself, or that you have permission to share.
- If there are people in the picture, please make sure they are happy to be in it. If anyone in it is under 18, please only send it if you are their parent or guardian.
- You keep ownership of your photo. We will not sell it and we will not pass it to anyone outside our own marketing.
- Videos are welcome too, and the same applies to them.
- To put a photo on Instagram or Facebook we have to agree to their terms, and we share files with the people who build our website and run our marketing. That is as far as it goes.
- We may not use your photo at all. We cannot promise where or when.
- Please be 18 or over to send us photos.
- Happy to be credited? Tell us and we will use your first name. Say nothing and we will use it without a name.
- You can change your mind. Email us and we will stop using the photo from then on. We cannot un-print something already printed, but we will take it down from anywhere we control.
- We will not publish your email address or your contact details. Ever.
Photos of other people's work, images taken from the internet, and anything you were paid to shoot for someone else are the three we have to say no to.
Thank you, genuinely
This is a working family farm just outside Boone, North Carolina, and it has been in the family since 1872. Most of what people know about it now, they know from a picture. We are grateful for every one you send.
